DNPA Code of Ethics

DNPA Code of Ethics for Khabri Dost

At Khabri Dost, we are committed to upholding the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA) Code of Ethics for digital news platforms.

The DNPA Code of Ethics is a voluntary framework designed to ensure responsible, accurate, and independent digital journalism. It balances freedom of the press—protected by the Indian Constitution—with a commitment to fair, ethical, and transparent reporting.

Purpose of the Code

The DNPA Code sets high standards and ethical practices for digital news publishing while preserving editorial independence. It aims to:

✅ Maintain high publishing standards
✅ Ensure accuracy and fairness
✅ Protect the independence of journalists and publishers

Legal and Ethical Standards

We comply with all applicable Indian laws, including:

  • The Constitution of India
  • Media laws
  • The Indian Penal Code (IPC)
  • The Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC)
  • The Information Technology Act, 2000

Our editorial teams adhere to rigorous self-regulatory processes to uphold these laws and journalistic ethics.

Key Principles

Accuracy, Transparency, and Fairness
We avoid publishing false, misleading, or harmful information. Facts are verified before publishing, defamation is strictly avoided, and all legal requirements are followed.

Right of Reply
When reporting allegations or controversies, we provide an opportunity for the parties or individuals involved to share their version of events. Updates and clarifications are added as necessary, with the date of modification.

Corrections and Deletions
If errors are identified, we correct or delete content as appropriate after reviewing the information provided by concerned parties.

Respect for Intellectual Property
We respect copyright and intellectual property rights. Permission is obtained for using others’ work (text, images, graphics) and proper attribution is given. Any applicable fees or royalties are paid.

Sensitive Reporting
We avoid sensationalizing crime stories or making assumptions about those involved. We report responsibly on sensitive topics like sexual harassment, child abuse, rape, and communal clashes, ensuring facts are verified and victims’ identities are protected—especially minors.

Privacy and Sensitivity
We protect the privacy of victims and suspects, particularly minors and non-public figures. We handle communal and religious topics sensitively, focusing on accuracy and fostering peace.

Court and Judicial Reporting
We follow guidelines for court reporting, ensuring that both the victim’s and the accused’s versions are presented fairly, without personal bias or commentary.

Grievance Redressal

In compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, Khabri Dost has appointed a Grievance Officer to handle user complaints within 36 hours and resolve them within one month.
